Jarvis Gardens

Jarvis Gardens Senior Apartments in Chico, CALike so many of the projects that CCH undertakes, Jarvis Gardens was borne of a relationship with a local community group. Northern Valley Catholic Social Service and CCH partnered to create more affordable housing options for low-income seniors in the Chico area. This 50-unit building was completed in October 2007. Jarvis Gardens is named after a local Councilwoman, Coleen Jarvis, who played an active role in the community as a social activist, public servant, and family law attorney. The grand opening ceremony, held in January of 2008, was attended by the Jarvis family, the Mayor of Chico, and many others in a wonderful show of support for this endeavor. The property was funded by the HUD Section 202 capital advance program and the City’s HOME funds. The HUD 202 program provides rental subsidy that ensures that our residents pay no more than 30% of their income on rent and utilities.
