Oak Meadows
The third of four senior projects in this central valley town, Oak Meadows is a 60-unit senior housing facility that is co-sponsored by CCH and Visalia Senior Housing. A truly community-based effort, Visalia Senior Housing is a nonprofit entity formed by four cooperating churches of Visalia committed to providing affordable housing for very low-income seniors and people with disabilities. The successful working relationship between CCH and Visalia Senior Housing began with the first property built, The Meadows, in 1974. In the 1980s, the two organizations acquired another building for senior housing, The Town Meadows. The success of these two facilities led to this infill project located in downtown Visalia. The project was made possible through a financing package that leveraged public and private funds for affordable housing development. Along with the Section 202 capital advance, the project was awarded an operation subsidy that ensures the low-income senior tenants do not have to pay more than 30% of their income on rent and utilities.
