Getting a Good Night’s Sleep Once Again

Ida Johnson at CCH’s Bancroft Senior Housing was in desperate need for a new mattress. Her old mattress was in extremely bad condition, crumbling beneath her and impacting her health and ability to get a good night’s sleep. She was in a great deal of pain and didn’t have the money for a new mattress. This is where the Resident Care Fund can come into play, assisting residents with a one-time donation during a period of need or an unexpected emergency.

Ida is now feeling much better and thankful for the caring individuals who enabled her to once again get a good night’s sleep. “Thank you so much CCH,” Ida shares. “I got the best night’s sleep on my new mattress. I have been here almost two years and only have good things to say. My manager, Miss Jacque, and her staff are the best. I am so appreciative to you (for) being so generous on my behalf.”

Many residents, such as Ida, benefit from the generosity of donors who give from their hearts. Small gestures can make a big impact. Last year, because of COVID-19 restrictions, CCH was unable to host our Annual Fundraising Gala for the first time since its inception in 2011 for CCH’s 50th anniversary. Having to postpone the event during a year in which many seniors were separated from their families and were coping with the effects of a worldwide pandemic was particularly difficult.

“While we were unable to gather socially, we are extremely thankful to all who contributed to our Resident Care Fund last year. One hundred percent of these contributions goes directly to residents in their time of need and is not used for any CCH operations,” CCH President and CEO Syd Najeeb explains.

With the year 2020 now firmly behind us, Syd adds there is still a chance to make a difference in the lives of deserving seniors. Emergencies do arise, such as needing transportation to an urgent medical appointment, help with prescription costs, dental expenses, necessary medical equipment and other unforeseen circumstances.

“I humbly ask our friends and supporters to consider if you can spare any amount, large or small, to help make life better for a senior, such as Ida? We all deserve to have a good night’s sleep,” Syd shares.
