Make Your Vote Count on Nov. 6

California citizens from all walks of life are struggling with the lack of affordable housing in their communities. Safe, decent, affordable housing should be available to everyone. On November 6, vote Yes on Propositions 1 and 2 for the love of anyone you know needing affordable housing. Seniors are especially hit hard by this housing crisis, which I recently discussed on radio station KZSC. I invite you to listen to the interview at the links below where I explain some of the key issues surrounding the current housing shortage.

Propositions 1 and 2 can help folks like Paula, a senior whose husband passed away after a long illness. Despite working hard all their lives and preparing for retirement, they lost their savings when a severe illness caused her husband to lose his job and health insurance. After paying medical expenses, Paula was alone with few resources. She was able to secure an apartment at one of our CCH affordable housing communities. Still, tens of thousands more wait five or more years for a space.

Please vote YES on Propositions 1 and 2 for the love of anyone needing affordable housing. Your vote can make a difference to the lives of many.

I recently discussed the upcoming housing ballot measures and a host of timely issues with Bruce Bratton of radio station KZSC. Bratton is a long-time resident of our Santa Cruz Garfield Park Village. We covered a range of topics from California’s housing shortage, recent HUD developments, financing for low-income housing, CCH’s role in providing quality senior housing and a broad look ahead at the future of senior housing.
